Memorial Day Recipes

For us civilians removed from the true meaning of the holiday, Memorial Day is an excuse to get together with friends and family, grill out, and just spend time together not working. It’s also an excuse for us to cook for those friends and family. If you’ve been racking your brain trying to come up with the perfect Memorial Day recipes, I’ve scoured the internet, so look no further!

I promise I’m not affiliated with any of these bloggers, but they’re some of my favorite foodies.

Drinks

Strawberry Basil Lemonade. Come on! Is there anything more fresh than that?

Lawn Dart. This may be the only drink more refreshing than the Strawberry Basil Lemonade. I had this paired with a light lemonade when I was up in Ellijay this past weekend and it was just perfect! They finished it with a sprig of mint, and, I swear, I could drink those all day.

Blood Orange Raspberry Mojito. Is there a beverage more perfect than this?

Side Dishes

Macaroni & Cheese. Who doesn’t love a good mac and cheese? It’s honestly the most perfect pair with grilling out.

Pimento Cheese. Honestly, I could eat this as my main dish…even if it isn’t the best for you. Let me also tell you that I’m in love with topping my burgers with Pimento Cheese. It’s just SO GOOD.

Onion Dip. This is actually the easiest recipe in the world. Get one of those packets of Onion Soup Mix (They usually come in a box of two.). Add to 16oz of sour cream. Pair with chips or veggies. If you want a healthier version, I actually use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream now. I feel less guilty about eating it all!

Main Course

Turkey Burger. I may be partial, but I make the most amazing Turkey Burgers. I’ve started adding kale to the burgers too if I’m looking for a bit more green. Just make sure you saute the kale with the onion and garlic so it’s perfect! Be sure to pair it with my Everything Sauce for the right finishing touch.

Kebabs. Seriously. Put whatever you want on a kebab! Meat, vegetables, fruit…it’s all delicious!

Dessert

Strawberry Icebox Cake. You can never go wrong with an icebox cake. Depending on your audience, you can change the flavor too. Strawberries are obviously a hit, but you may add blueberries or make it lemon instead! Have I mentioned that I’m obsessed with lemon?

White Chocolate Covered Oreos. I’ve made these before and they are so easy! What a way to be patriotic too. If you’re not good in the kitchen, I’d recommend these to impress your friends.

Obviously, there are so many more things you can do. I’m making a fresh veggie pasta salad with my own salad dressing for my family. You can always do a meat and cheese platter or veggies or a casserole. The possibilities are endless, and I’m sure your party hosts will be grateful for your contribution.

Thank you to the brave men and women who served our country and paid the ultimate price. We are forever grateful for your service.
