Favorite Movies

A lot of times, the cold weather makes me want to curl up under a blanket and just binge movies or Netflix. Here’s a list of my favorite movies, and why I love them. I can’t rank them because it changes based on my mood. So, in no particular order:

Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway

You can call me on it. I actually deem this movie my actual favorite of all time. Toward the end of Rent’s run at the Nederlander, they did some filming for close shots, and then filmed the last show ever. For those of you who don’t know, this show change my life. I saw the standard movie version in 8th or 9th grade. It was so poignant. If you’ve seen the show…my goal is to find someone who loves me the way Collins loves Angel.

Hercules

“Who put the ‘glad’ in gladiator? HER-CU-LES!” Once, my sister and I were snowed in, and we watching this back to back. Hercules started my love of mythology, and I’m pretty sire I can recite it word for word.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (1&2)

Cut me some slack on these. They’re just really cute! Totally absurd, but definitely great to watch. For the record, I’m counting these as one of my top ten.

Harry Potter

I’m not counting these as eight movies. Though I will say that Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire were tremendous disappointments. However, there’s nothing like putting on a series that you grew up with. Confession: I always had a crush on Draco Malfoy.

P.S. I Love You

This movie starts tragic, and, man, will it make you cry. I actually haven’t watched it in a while specifically for this reason. He knew he was dying, and all he could think of was how to make the transition of life without him easier for his love (*cue the tears while I write this*).

Bridesmaids

“You are more beautiful than Cinderella! You smell like pine needles, and you have a face like sunshine.” Why can’t we all be as kind as they were to each other on the plane? That was a Leslie Knope style compliment.

Inception

Who didn’t fall victim to the Inception craze? I love a movie that makes me think. And let’s be real…the soundtrack was the best part of the whole movie. If you need music to study to (or accomplish any task that requires focus), it’s super motivating.

You know how, when you’re put on the spot to come up with more than one of anything, and your mind goes blank…I’m starting to have trouble remembering what movies exist in the world.

Miss Congeniality

What a good movie! Made me fall in love with Sandra Bullock. Also, what a good message that you just be nice to your other ladies! We all have to stick together.

The Prince of Egypt

Exodus is one of my favorite books of the Bible, so it’s only fitting that we pay homage to Ramases and Moses. This is also some of the most beautiful and powerful music I’ve ever heard. I remember a debate a friend and I had in the 8th grade about the order of the slave tasks in “Deliver Us” (For the record, it’s ‘mud [and lift], sand [and pull], water [and raise up], straw [faster!]’).

Confession: I had to brainstorm with a friend for this last one. Thanks, Kate!

Anastasia

This was one of my absolute favorite movies from back when. I used to imagine myself in “Once Upon a December” when the ball comes to life via ghosts. That sounds ridiculous explaining it like that. I was also obsessed with all of her formalwear in the movie. I can’t even tell you how excited I am that they’re making a live action musical!

Well, there’s a bit about me! Apparently, I love cartoons, and am really involved with the music in movies. I’m also always looking for new recommendations. What are your favorites?
