The Woman In Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware has been on my list to read for so long. I always managed to talk myself out of buying it because I had other books to read. Thanks to a book sale for my library, I snagged it for just $2.00! Gotta love a good book bargain!

The Story

We meet Lo Blacklock in the midst of a hangover as she’s getting burgled. Within the next few days, she’s supposed to leave for a luxury yacht trip as part of her travel journalism job. We come to learn that she’s quite a drinker and is also on some medication for anxiety.

The group of people on the yacht is quite small. There are only ten cabins in all. It’s the inaugural voyage, so they break out all the stops.

The Suspense

It’s been quite the suspenseful year for books that I’ve read. It’s definitely one of my new favorites. I appreciate The Woman in Cabin 10 because it didn’t do any of that backward storytelling nonsense. It was a present tense story, so you got to live with the questions just like the characters.

The heart of the story is in an extra passenger on board the ship. The guests and crew just say Lo is a paranoid woman who drinks too much on her medication. She’s determined to prove them wrong, and that’s when it all goes south.

The Recommendation

I really enjoyed The Woman in Cabin 10. It was another book that kept me engaged and reading. My sister said that she felt let down by the end. I definitely understand where she’s coming from. However, it’s a great read if you’re looking for something entertaining by the beach or pool or on a plane ride. I wouldn’t recommend reading it on a boat though.
