Day 21 by Kass Morgan

day 21

Day 21 is book two of four in Kass Morgan’s The 100 series. The book picks up right where The 100 lets off, with the one hundred acclimating to life on Earth.

Catch up on the details from The 100 here.

Initial Thoughts

I’m not going to lie, I thought that Day 21 was going to be a bit more dramatic than I thought. The title of the book makes it seem like there’s going to be something truly dramatic happening. The title, you find out, comes from when radiation poisoning shows itself within humans.

The second book continues to go into the characters’ backstories. It gets a bit deeper and a bit darker in Day 21. You also get to learn a bit more about how the characters interacted with each other prior to their arrival on earth.

As a common enemy, the one hundred find that they’re not alone on earth. There’s a faction of Earthborns looking to destroy them for invading the planet.

Overall

Day 21 was a great continuation of the story of the one hundred. We’re introduced to new characters who bring about conflict as well as friendships among those on earth. The one hundred are finally setting into a routine, and it almost seems like they’re going to be able to make it on earth.

As for the Colony, their resources are failing more than they were anticipating at this point in their timeline. People begin to panic, and, honestly, it just gets really ugly. The only thing those on the Colony can do is fight to get to Earth. They either suffocate in space, or risk radiation on Earth. Which would you choose?
