Friday Five: October 2018

friday five

I’m not going to lie. October has been a bitch. As this posts, I’m on my way to Fort Lauderdale for my grandfather’s funeral. It’s been an emotionally tough month. I’ve been super absent from the blog as well, so thank you all for understanding.

But, in every month, there is always something for which you can be grateful.

Face Brush.

I still follow a ton of “influencers” (AKA former Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants) on Instagram. They all boast about this Vanity Planet face brush. My face runs a bit more oily, so I thought it would be a good thing to try. In common Caroline fashion, I went to Amazon. Turns out they offer the Vanity Planet brush for the same price as all these codes the “influencers” are giving out.

For me, I wanted one with a few more options, so I got a different one. I definitely feel a difference in my skin! There are interchangeable heads to help with face scrubbing, makeup removal, and even one for calluses on your feet!

Nail Filing.

Yes, I have become obsessed with filing my nails. I’ve stashed emory boards around my apartment, much like I used to do with chapstick! It’s helping to shape my nails, and keep them a bit healthier so they don’t break too much at the end.

Booties for Fall

I wanted booties for YEARS, but never found a pair that I liked enough to get or that I would wear. Thanks to a great sale last Christmas, I now have three pairs: grey, black, and brown. For whatever reason, they just make me feel better. I wore a pair a couple of times in Vegas for this last work trip, and it was a brand new confidence boost.

OneLife Fitness

You guys. I joined a gym! It’s the first time I’ve been a member of a gym. Really, it was a great opportunity. They offer classes included in the membership. The gym equipment is all brand new. There’s a pool and a sauna and so many amenities. Plus, I found the most perfect “helix” machine. If you’re local to my area, I’ll hook you up with a referral!

To Close October

“Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart.”
José N. Harris, MI VIDA: A Story of Faith, Hope and Love

October was gone in the blink of an eye. More than anything, I’ve learned how important it is to slow down. Hold your loved ones a little closer. Live in each moment, and don’t you dare miss a thing.
