The Best of Friends
The Best of Friends follows three long-time, female friends: Lindsey, Kendra, and Dani. These ladies have been friends since they were growing up. They still live close, have had children close together, and continued their friendship into adulthood. Their children are even friends!
The story opens with a bang (literally). We learn that their sons were hanging out when shots were fired. One son dies, one is in a coma, and the other is too terrified to say anything.
We learn more about these women, their sons, and the lives they’ve lived as the story goes on.
My Thoughts
She does it again. I could not put The Best of Friends down. The story being told from three different points of view kept it moving. Ms. Berry’s ability to dive into the psychological subconscious (thanks to her education and history) is just amazing. I love book that make you think, and this certainly did that.
I will proactively let you know that there are some triggers with domestic abuse. If you’re sensitive to that, just be careful. She’s as tasteful as you can be with an issue like that, but just be aware.
I cannot wait to see what Lucinda Berry writes next. You should 100% preorder this book and help The Best of Friends reach the top of the USA Today Bestseller’s List!
